Can't import a single .mov file?

I shot a scene on my DVX100 straight to my friends Macbook Pro through FCP 7. We checked and imported all the footage afterwards, and everything seemed OK.

I'm editing on a desktop Mac at school which has FCP 6.6. I had all the .mov files we captured on my harddrive, and every single one of them imported correctly- except one. The file is the same framerate, bit rate, file extension- everything about it is the same and it plays correctly in quicktime- but it simply will not import into FCP. I get the error message that the file format isn't recognized.

Is this a common problem?

Is it from a very long take? Takes past a certain length are sometimes chopped into several files. So if you are trying to open the second half of a large file you may get this error. I'd see if you can open it in QT Player and if so- re-export to another version. Otherwise, recapture off the tape.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but every time I do this, I wind up with a smaller (and I assume more compressed) file. I don't usually use Macs- can someone tell me how I can use quicktime to re-export the files with the SAME EXACT quality as the original? Thanks.
