Can't I record directly to Final Cut through camera???

with all this talk of directly recording to your laptop/ editing sytem with the new HVX, I decided to do it with my dvx.

It will not let me capture now unless it's in VTR mode. Thus capturing already recorded material.

So how the heck am I to directly capture without recording to a tape or other device?

Can I cature directly to my G4 through Final Cut or any other program on mac using a firewire or do I always have to record first then capture???

Final Cut doesn't have a live capture option?

How about (and I'm not being sarcastic here) iMovie?

Yeah, just tried imovie and it works but... upon thinking about it(let me know if i'm wrong). Doesn't the picture need to be recorded in order for it to add pulldown then upon capture remove it?

I exported the clip from imovie but it's just a 29.97 clip, I need to record first in 24padvanced mode to get 24p, Correct?

Make sure you turn off deck control... make it a non controllable device. See if that works.

Also, QuickTime 7's new player will let you record as well. I haven't tried it yet, but it's another option for those who don't have Final Cut Pro.
