Under the FCP menu check your A/V Settings to make sure you've got Apple Firewire as your External Video Device. The Log and Capture Window must actually be the selected window for it to show anything other than color bars. And before you check any software settings, make sure your camera is on VTR/VCR mode!

Sorry, didn't get what you were asking.

A little clarification: are you just trying to use the camera as an external viewer, or are you trying to record back to tape?

Using your camera as a viewer is kind of pointless, so I'm assuming you're trying to record back to tape.

1) Select your sequence you want to output.
2) Select Print to Video (control-M) from the File menu.
3) Select your desired slate and color bar options, etc. from the menu and click OK.
4) Wait for the video to render and then click OK. Simultaneously, begin your camera recording. The camera must be in VTR mode. The way to start a camera recording in VTR mode depends on the camera. For most Panasonics, you hold down the record button and press play at the same time. Refer to your manual.

Hope this is what you were looking for.

ok, here's what to do if you would like to view the video on your camera, which is maybe connected to a TV as an external monitor.

Go to the "view" menu. At the bottom select 'external monitor' from that menu choose 'all frames' If it is greyed out, choose 'refresh a/v devices' which is listed under the 'view' menu as well, just under 'external monitor'

You can also always check the 'video playback' and 'audio playback' menu as well.

Does that help you out?
