I can't get the HVX to show up on my Macbook - I am using firewire. I have restarted -unplugged - replugged - It does not show up on the desk or in Disk Utility. What is the obvious thing that I am missing here? Yes, the camera is in VCR mode. Yes, the P2 is installed properly. Yes, energy saving is turned off. Please Help . . .

Ok, be very careful with the firewire port. It could blow out on the HVX if you keep unplugging and plugging in. Its random but has happened to a few people i know in person.

NOW, you CAN use USB Device mode to connect it, just one extra step. YOu have to flip the switch on the P2 card itself to 'WRITE PROTECT MODE'

So follow the same steps, but put the camera in USB DEVICE MODE, then go to device mode and then connect the camera using a USB cable to the Macbook and it should mount.

Thanks for the prompt reply . . . in the mean time I went to Ken Stone to realize that I simply had to push and hold the mode button until it popped over to pc dub mode and that mounted the P2 . . . should I still switch the P2 into Protect?

No, only have to use write protect to use USB Device Mode. I would use USB mode just to protect the camera from losing its Firewire port though.
