Can't get anamorphic footage to show up properly in FCP 6

I have a 16:9 clip that I exported out of FCP. It plays back in QTPlayer in proper aspect. When I import that into FCP and let it use the clips settings, it is 4:3 and the image is squished. When I do not let it use the clips setting, it still looks wrong.

Any help?

Scroll through the file browser pane to Anamorphic and click the check mark next to the file name.

It should now play as 16:9 in FCP.

Thanks Jason.

Apple should implement auto flag recognition...

Everything works fine now, but I Can't preview 16:9 footage properly via my Black Magic card :(

auto flag? It does. When you select anamorphic capturing.... didn't you know it was anamorphic when you captured it?

Point being, if you flagged it on capture at 4:3 it doesn't care how fat you are... it will show it to you at 4:3.

RE black magic card... um, what monitor are you using????

The clip(s) are 16:9 exported out of FCP. It plays with proper AR in QuickTime and After Effects sees the 16:9 flag. When I import them into FCP, it sees them as 4:3 but the anamorphic checkbox fixes that.

I use a Bravia and a Sony PVM monitor (for SD monitoring)...and I finally figured out how to do it works fine now.

Just one more question, I have loads of ProRes422 clips (SD) how can I edit these without getting the unrendered graphic? I selected a ProRes preset for the timeline.

Make sure the clip settings match the sequence settings exactly.
