Okay so I don't have Final Cut Studio until next week or a seperate device to capture my footage to my Mac.

I've looked through the forumm but can't find an answer for how exactly do I transfer my DV footage to my Mac using my DVX ( I know, I know it's a big no no that's all I've been able to find on how to transfer, but I can't afford to buy something at the moment)

Any of you willing to help me figure out how to capture, I connect my DVX using a firewire cable but nothing is being detected do I need a program that will do that? is it because I don't have FCS yet? There's iMovie and Adobe Flash CS3 Video Encoder will any of these capture it?

if there's already a thread for this, can someone direct me I honestly could'nt find it.

You can capture in iMovie

When you start iMovie and create a project, then capture you footage you can right click or control click on the i movie project file (after capturing) and "View package contents" to open up the iMovie file and inside you will find a folder with all of your video files intact as .dv quicktime movies.

Your DVX should appear under your system profiler.

1 click on the apple logo on the top left of your screen
2 click on more info
3 under Hardware click on USB
And your DVX should be there

Under USB??? Really?

.dv won't be too happy in FinalCut. You'd best want to convert them to DV/NTSC or better yet... wait.

you can capture using just the quicktime player. it's under file/new movie recording...

although these are the same crappy stream files that imovie makes. good way to test the connection though.

also useful if you wanna just capture quickly and upload to youtube. it does realtime mp4 capture as well.

I'll give it a shot and see how it goes thanks guys. But do I need to do anything with my DVX though is there a setting I should put it on?
