Can't change brush sizes??

OK I've got a very strange problem and I've been searching the web to trouble shoot but so far no luck. I have an old g5 my wife uses and have photoshop 6.0 on it. For some reason we've lost the ability to change the brush diameter size, as well as clone tool or and other tool that has a diameter control. I can't even use the bracket commands to change the brush sizes?? anyone know what could be going on? I've tried uninstall and reinstall and all the obvious stuff...oh by the way we're running it on os classic (but my regular os is tiger)

If the problem is ACTUALLY changing the brush size... like, not only being UNABLE to see the changes in the reticule, but not being able to resize it PERIOD (even after attempting to trigger the brush)... then I have no idea.

What I would try, however, is hitting the caps-lock button. -- What happens? Do you see the reticule again? Can you resize it?

If this doesn't work, I offer it up to someone else on the forum... or the adobe support.

i think the caps lock key does something odd to the brush, i think it turns off the size indicator. it ticks me off sometimes.
