cant capture on G5 dual, only on g4 powerbook

Hi all,
need some help here, will appreciate if you can give some advice
i have a g4 powerbook and g5 dual processor.
both are using fcp 5.1 crossgrade.
problem is that i cant capture to g5 dual processor.
it cant detect the firewire.
to my surprise, when i swap the firewire to my g4 15inch powerbook it capture well.
can somebody explain this to me.
is there something wrong with my g5.
i double check all the setting . seem to run perfectly fine.
the only dif, for my g5 when i bought was in os 10.3.9 than i upgrade to 10.4.6
in order to upgrade to fcp 5.1
right now, i am still troubleshooting the situation.
will appreciate if you can point out any web..
that will help me on this.

i try.
unplucking the firewire,
changing firewire cable.
restarting the g5.
restarting the deck.
hence, if you got any other information, pls let me know.

have you gone into Apps/Utilities/System Profiler and looked at your Firewire Bus to see if anything is actually registering. This may be a computer problem, and not a FCP problem at all.

Try a different firewire port on your comp. Try a different firewire device, see if that reads.

Repair permissions.

Do a cold boot (unplug computer and deck for 1 minute) then try again.

Try a different program, like imovie.

Reinstall FCP
