Cant capture into FCE 2 ????

Hey,

i have a PDX10 and FCE and i have gone through both the camera manual and FC one t make sure they are set up correct and when i try and capture a clip of my dv camera i get error: unknown file, and it wont let me capture now or project?

I have tried recording 2 small clips 1 in DVCAM and 1 in DVSP both about 3 min long,

I have Dv out on in the VCR mode and capture in FC see's my camera i can mark in/out points but i cannot capture?

! thing is when i start FCe it says cannot set scratch disk volume none writable or something? Could that be my issue? i bought the computer this way with OS tiger pre-installed, maybe ill try capturing to my ibook where i have FCE set up and scratch disk set?
 
I guess it was the scratch disk error i was getting, how can i go and set up the scratch disk?

I just hooked it up to my ibook the same way i was trying on my other comp and it worked fine.
