Can't capture footage

A rookie question: I just shot a doc and I'm trying to capture the footage from the 100a but a FC window appears telling me FC is seeking the time code but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Are you capturing with the DVX, other camera or a deck?
Doesn't sound like it's getting time code.
Also make sure to rewind the tape.

is the tape moving? If you have broken time code or it's on a section with no time code then it may get confused. Are you doing a capture now or a log and batch capture?

I am able to watch footage (using FC) but I'm not able to capture. After I hit "capture now" a window comes up telling me it's checking for hard drive space, then a new window appears that reads, "waiting for time code. Device must be in VTR mode when device control is enabled." The window remains and FC doesn't capture the footage. FYI I'm using a duel 2.5 G5 and an internal 400 gb drive, FC Pro HD.

Should work fine. Double check your cable and the connections.
Make sure you have plenty of diskspace and try setting capture amount not to exceed 15 minutes or whatever you actually need to capture.
Capture now, especially of long times isn't really recommended.
As a simple test do a log and then a batch capture of that.
To log use FCP to get to a section of a shot, mark it as the in point, , run ahead a little and mark the end point of that shot. Hit the Log button.
Now hit the batch button and see if it can capture that.

Thank you, that worked but I'm still not able to "capture now." I'm using my 100a to capture and wiith 50 hours of footage I really want to get the footage on my mac tape by tape and log there. (less wear and tear on the camera).

If log and capture works then set the start of the tape as the in point and set the outpoint to that plus 60 minutes (or 63?) for the outpoint in the log window.
Do a batch capture of that.

If you still have problems capturing footage try capturing via GCAM

Its just a capture tool you can download. Only 50k and it works great. put the settings on 720-480 because its default is sometimes different. The only thing is I don't know if it captures 24p. But worth to find out.
good luck
