hi all.... i was wondering if anyone could help me with problems at my work......for some reason my boss is convinced that canopus is the way to go....we use premiere 6.5 and its extremelly buggy and when i say extremelly i mean like 40 crashes in a day is the record, needless to say ctrl s is my not so favorite best friend.....i fail to see the benifits of a realtime card that needs to render everylittle thing.......the selling points are the soft focus and color correction features....Can i use these plug ins without using 6.5 and the RT card....other issues he has is he believes the video quality and slow motion quality with the canopus cards is superior....i would really like to offer up some solutions to these issues he has so we can jump to premiere pro 2.0.....i can think of a million reasons to make this switch but hes still unconvinced........any ideas or solutions.....thanks

I used to use 6.5 and I remember how buggy it was. I'm using PP1.5 now, and it's MUCH better. I've only tried 2.0, and I can't recommend it over 1.5. You can probably find an upgrade to 1.5 on Amazon for cheap. The stability alone is worth upgrading, and I'm sure the Canopus system you're using now will still work, although all the features and effects you mentioned are possible with 1.5, and they're very nice. There are more options for slow motion and color correction, and soft focus can be done easily with an effect called Fast Blur.
Good luck with your boss!
