Canon XL2 capturing interlaced

Hey guys,

I'm capturing Canon XL2 footage through Premiere, but the raw footage is coming out interlaced:/ Any suggestions? Shooting 24p and 2:3:3:2.

Thank you!

Put the footage in a NTSC-24p sequence and pulldown will be removed. But the footage is captured as-is from tape, the AVIs are 60i.

David, every time I ask something on DVXuser, you are always the one to reply. With the best answers too. What a Legend. Thanks bro :)

That question brings me back about 6 years. I still love my XL2 I just wish the image quality was better, I love the form factor and am sick of DSLR rigs. The one complaint of the form factor was that it was front heavy...if my 5D being front heavy was the only issue I would be a happy man.

Very worrying....

Very worrying....

Hey again,

I dropped my footage onto a 24p timeline, exported as Mpeg2 with high quality settings, and this is what I get:

Flip, this is worrying... Any idea why the quality is so bad? Also, I've tried multiple ways of exporting it as both normal NTSC and 24pa, and the quality is just terrible. Not too sure what to do :/

But that clip that I showed you above WAS Mpeg2, and it looks horrible:/ Surely I must be doing something else wrong?

If you're referring to the choppiness, it's most likely because the zoom and the camera movement are way too fast for 24 fps shooting.
