Canon XHA1 w/ Letus or Brevis?

I just got handed a Canon XHA1 and the producer wants to sue an adapter on it.
I've got a Brevis or Letus for this - .
Any issues with either one I should be aware of on the Canon?

The Brevis (CF1L) fits right away (72mm). With the Letus I have the rings for 77mm or 82mm but I could use a step up ring. I have the achromat optimized for the EX-1.

hmm, tough call. both are fantastic adapters and very similar.
I have worked with both and prefer working wit hthe letus because of its robustness. Or perhaps you want something lighter?
Does your brevis have the flip unit?

I know about the adapters - I own 'em both - I want to know if there are interactions with the Canon I should be aware of.
Yes Brevis has a flip. I could even use it with the SG if I wanted.

I believe that Cinevate uses the XHA1 as one of their primary cameras in testing and optimizing the Brevis. So if the Brevis works well with any camera it should be with the XHA1.

If I remember correctly that's the camera that Dennis said using the brevis flip with will get you less chromatic abberation than if you just used the stock lens.

Lenny, the XH-A1 has an excellent stock lens with respect to edge to edge sharpness, and consequently works extremely well with our flip which was designed assuming the lens behind it was "perfect". It's also true (and demonstrated in one of our video university clips) that the XH-A1 is cleaner with our flip than with the bare lens. So basically, in terms of optical performance, the XH-A1 has tested better than any other camera we've ever tested with the MP.1 flip. We use the XH-A1 when doing lens testing because we know the stock setup is nearly perfect with respect to edge to edge sharpness. Have fun :-)

Hey Dennis I'm curious of your A1 settings on the brevis flipped. With mine on and the CF1Le I'm at 1.7 for focus and Z76 for zoom.

Those are in the ballpark (we are usually around Z72 zoom) but I never use the numbers. We've seen repeated occasions, particularly with a camera that is under some heat stress, where the focus will change. Always check back focus and reset your zoom when you mount up the unit....and if the camera is in the sun on a warm day, don't be afraid to tweak.

Very often, on the fly, we'll engage use focus assist/peaking and set best focus on a framed scene using the 35mm lens focus ring, and then the camera's focus ring to get it perfect. On the XH-A1 you can just redo the focus preset as the camera heats up and re-engage if there's any chance focus has been inadvertently touched. It only takes a moment and can make a big difference in overall image sharpness.
