Canon XF300 & XF305 Approved by BBC for Indie Companies

AFAIK, no 1/3" camera has been accepted as anything other than Bronze. I don't have the page in front of me, but they said something like "we found the optical performance to be on par with the 1/3" HDV cameras" or something like that, and therefore they classified the HVX in the same general category as the HDV cameras.

Whereas with the HPX500, they had no problems and rated it Silver for unlimited acquisition.

I'm wondering if the newer CMOS 1/3" chips are now good enough imagers for D-HD Silver. The HVX200 doesn't have 1920x1080 sensors like the new Canons. Interesting how the BBC would find them acceptable. I always thought their standards were tougher than Discovery's. I think the BBC's more format-oriented, since they like the Canon's 50 mbs 4:2:2 over the EX CAM's 35 mbs 4:2:0, which Discovery allows for full Silver acquisition.
If only the Canons had 1/2" chips, that would solve everything.
Does the BBC accept the HPX500? I heard the Panny 300s are not accepted.

From what I read the aren't as interested in sensor size as true 1920x1080 images and at least 50Mbps with 4.2.2.

A EX1/3 with a Nanoflash meets that.
