Canon user thread - post your pictures here

Nice shots Kegan, I like 'em ... that kit lens is a pretty good lens, IMHO. That's all I have right now too, but am pretty pleased with the pictures I'm getting with it.

SafetyO - Here's a tutorial for creating the images in Photoshop (after you've taken the multi-exposure shot).

But the one's I posted earlier were done with a freeware program called FDR Tools. You can get it here:

I don't have photoshop on my work computer, so I found that program and used it to create those images. I don't know what I'm doing yet, so just took the default settings, seemed to work well for me.

Thanks Larry - yeah I like the kit lens. I don't see anything wrong with it to be honest. Of course there are better lenses, but for the purpose of learning I think it's great. The girl in the pictures has a 30D. I remember a week after buying my XTi I saw the 30D in a flyer for cheaper than I purchased my XTi for, but for some reason I passed. Always kick myself for it after using a 30D.

It's good to learn with and I can't even pretend to know all the functions of the camera yet. Once I figure 'em out, my next SLR will be a D series for sure.

I'm not especially in love with these...but considering I snapped all of them from the car going 70mph...and they are still pretty sharp....I think its a testament to the 50mm 1.8 lens.

(umm, I wasn't driving).

I thought I'd stop by Michael Jacksons house and ride the ferris wheel...

Thanks Matt. Truly.

I was actually just more fixated on sharpness. It's never been my strong suit but I'm really beginning to absolutely LOVE the 50mm1.8 lens. Most all of my shots during that ride were pretty sharp and I don't think I would have been able to do that with the kit lens.

I think the best atrribute that the 50mm f1.8 has is the autofofcus on it. Because it is a very fast lens the focus is quick and very accurate. It is a loud motor but I actually like teh way it sounds. My 24-70 L doesn't focus as easily (it's whisper quite though)

Nice baseball

I used to have one signed by the entire SF Giants squad, from the 70s I believe. I wonder what ever happened to that

I stopped doing the dishes to take this :P

God I hate doing the dishes...

(added vignet and modified the colours with levels, the original one was pretty green as if the water came from a nuclear facility)

Did you have to mask out the water to make it run black, or did you just use levels over then entire shot??

I really like that pic for some reason. The border actually does a lot for it too:thumbsup:

Yea, me too .. that's why I documented it :) Actually we were going really slow, so I was playing around with the camera. I know, probably not real safe, but we were going under 5 miles an hour at the time, so ...

If the traffic depresses you, try looking a few posts up at my shots of the pacific ocean, all taken around Pebble Beach in Monterey, CA
