Canon user thread - post your pictures here

strancali...looks very nice. love the colors and clarity in the first shot. you're gonna love that lens. admittedly, i havent pulled it out nearly enough. i haven't pulled my camera out nearly enough, really. but, that lens, especially for daytime outdoorsy stuff, is awesome.

as for the PS work on that photo...looks good. as does your version 2 in the Can. to be honest, sometimes I have a hard time figuring out what final tweaks would really be ultimately the best.

thanks Rick, I think I'm going to buy a EF 400mm f/4 L USM this week too because I heard great things about that lens being tac sharp and all. Your photos are amazing and if you want to just learn the basics in PS to making the image 'pop' a little, take a look at this video. There's really only 3 things I do to most of my images (adjust levels, adjust selective colors and sharpen it a bit for the final).

Silverwolf, your photos are amazing! What camera/lens/techniques are you using? WOW!

I use a Canon 20D.

Lens wise it depends on the photo but my main ones are a 17-85mm 4-5.6 and a 100mm Macro 2.8

Technique wise it's a combination of great lighting and post processing. Most of it is on the lighting side then the post processing brings it all out.

yeah, silverwolf, great stuff. i love that last photo. totally stylized and i really dig it.

strancali thanks for the link. i look forward to checking it out.

Could you please share your PP technique? It's great!

Thanks

I find that taking an interesting sunset or ocean photo is very hard. They usually wind up looking like a Hallmark Sympathy card. But, here's one...

and, a Gold colored mime on Hollywood Blvd...

@silverwolf: I second that, can you tell us what techniques you used for the first two photos? The guy and the bunny girl.

@Rick: The beach photos look great, is that Hermosa?

It's weird switching from the Nikon thread to the Canon thread. But my D80 is on the way out, and now I'm shooting with a 5D. My neighbor's dog, 50mm 1.4, Canon 5D.

thank you sbryan. im not sure why the signs sell the shot either but its the part i like about it too.

sack-how does it feel to come to the dark side? Great shot btw. I have that 50mm lens and man is it awesome. Best bang for the buck. The detail in your shot and the grass is really great.

It feels good. I actually own a ton of Canon gear, XHA1, HV20, GL1, and 2 different powershots. I feel like I'm home again.:)

I did enjoy my Nikon, but I wanted to go full frame and I can't afford a D700. So here I am in the Canon thread.

Hey Pt-

I am really digging your slightly desaturated style. I know, I know, I have always been a blast-the-colors fan but when desaturation is done right, its right. You treat all your photos the same way or are you selective when you bring down the colors? In that last shot and a lot of the bike pics...it was a really nice use of color treatment or lack there of.

One thing I need to get better at is knowing when a pic would be better served with less color or no color at all...
