Canon G6 AVI not read by Vegas

Hi folks,

I never thought I'd ask THIS question. I just happened to be at a friend's birthday party, and took some pictures with my wife's Canon G6 camera. Then I thought - hey, it's got a video setting, why not use that to make some home movies?

Well, the AVI files produced by that fine piece of equipment play fine in Windows Media Player (v. 9), but when I import them into Vegas, only sound gets imported, no picture. I suspect Canon is using a video codec that Vegas doesn't support, but it's been a while since I dabbled in that area, so maybe it's something else.

Anyone has an idea what the problem might be?

Thanks a bunch!

Codec. Interestingly enough, you can probably play/convert them in Windows Movie Maker.
Yes I can, but that software... well, it sucks. After using Vegas, everything does.

Interesting problem. I ran into this a few months ago - same problem - the file would play in Media player, but not in Vegas. When I upgraded from Vegas 4 to 6, the problem went away. Do you have the latest version and all the updates?
