Canon FD to digital camera adapter?

Hi,

I have a bunch of very good Canon FD lenses I bought to use with my 35mm adapter but I'd also like to use them for still photography. But I don't want to buy a canon fd body. I would like to buy a ditigal camera and use an adapter to be able to use all my lenses with it. Is this possible? I'm not looking for a professional camera, nor do I want a point and shoot. I want to have manual control over it and I want to be able to use the canon fd lenses. Any advice on an afordable camera and an afordable adapter to use the canon fd lenses?

cheers

Well, you'll need a dSLR, probably a Rebel and I've seen adapters out there, but I'm not sure what limitations they have. I'm pretty sure they don't autofocus, but beyond that you got me.

I don't want autofocus anyway. Manual focus is perfect for me. I've seen the Rebel and I thought it was a 35mm camera, not a digital...It would be good if you were right, because the Rebel is very afordable.

Darn it! I've seen the wrong model (which is less expensive). The Digital Rebel XT is the one you probably mean. It's like 700$. A "bit" more than I'd like to spend for a hoby.

The disadvantage with using an adapter to mount your FD or FL lenses to a newer EOS system is a) no autofocus (as mentioned above), and b) limited, if any, metering. Metering must be down in manual mode by stopping the lens down, and usually only higher-end cameras support stop down metering. Not a big deal on a digital...snap a shot and meter by the histogram display.
