canon eos and the lens adapters for DOF setup

ok...so i'm thinkin' about buying or making a 35mm adapter with a canon eos lens mount. I'm doing this because I've seen a variety of adapters for canon eos, which will allow me to use a variety of different lenses and I won't have to buy different lens mounts. with this convenience, there has to be some drawbacks but I don't know what they are.

has anyone had success with adding these adapters (particularly nikon, canon fd, or minolta) to a canon eos DOF setup? can you focus the lens to infinity? does the lens fully function (i.e. the aperture can open/close) on a canon eos mount?? does the lens feel secure?

there are only a few questions i can think of.

thanks
Mark

You needd a dslr to change the aparture, because you can't change it on the lens. That's the drawback...

There are issues with controlling the lens as Canon interface between the camera and lens is totally electrical. At a minimum this means that you will not be able to control the iris / aperture, and on the L series lenses you may not be able to focus either.

If you really want to use Canon lenses (as I do) you can get a EOS to serial adapter from Birger Engineering (http://www.birger.com/). I sent him (Eric) my Micro35 and he designed and made a mount for it. He will have a total solution soon, but for now you would have to make your own controlling system. I made mine out of a Parallax Basic Stamp computer and I am now in the process of making it wireless.

Wow, very cool. I would love to be able to EOS lenses with my adapter (easily). I'll be watching this thread for sure.
