Canon C500 Price Reduced from $15,999 to $9,999

If you look at your sheet from CUSA, you can see the * by the 7Q packages .....it means no longer available....so nobody gets confused..
 
Heck of a camera for that price. With NAB right around the corner and a new high-end cinema camera coming (C500 6/8K?) this makes sense. Now, if they would only sell the new c300 mk ii for $9,999 and list the new c500 around $15k they'd be much more competitive.

In terms of over-all build quality I feel the C300 II is superior to the FS7, I don't think they're really in the same price point for that reason. That being said, it shouldn't be so much higher either, especially now that the Varicam LT is out at the same price as the C300 II.

Yes, but the Varicam LT is $16.5K for the body only....more like $22K for the full package which you will get (VF, shoulder mount, rods, etc).....

C300 II is 16K body only as well, it has an EVF but it's in such a useless place that most people get another monitor/evf. Rigging it out, one way or another, will cost more too. The biggest savings compared to the Varicam is that CFast 2.0 cards are cheaper than P2 cards.

I don't think the C300 MKII is superior in build quality to the FS7 at all. They are both mid-tier cameras. Neither have the built quality and pro features of a Varicam, F65 or Alexa but neither are as cheaply build as an AC90. They are pretty on pair and feature to feature the C300 is definitely overpriced.
