C500: Canon C500 Mark III / C600 Feature Wishlist

  1. Every Feature the C400 has
  2. Dual CFast Express with an SD card that can record proxies and/or primary
  3. 4:3 sensor for full frame open gate anamorphic
  4. Secondary power/video feed port for viewfinder in addition to monitor port
  5. Viewfinder
  6. 4" LCD screen (the C400 screen is crap in terms of size), 5" LCD screen, 7" LCD screen
  7. 8K large format, 6K full frame, 4K Super35
  8. If large format increases power draw, release a C500 Mark III full frame with lower power draw and a medium format version with higher power draw (like the C700 had an S35 and FF version)
  9. XF-AVC in 6K and 8K
  10. Full size timecode BNC (maybe full size XLR though I'm a bit on the fence about that)
  11. Dual Gain Sensor (I'm on the fence about this if it doubles the power draw)
  12. Ability to change sensor modes while recording
  13. Extension unit that has two additional XLR AND two additional SDI outputs
  14. The joystick on the camera when pressed in will select like the function key does to select ISO, shutter, etc. The original Canon C100s did this but for some dumb reason the C300s have not been able to.
  15. Canon should buy Arri and put Arri sensors in smaller Canon camera bodies (if Nikon can buy Red what is holding Canon back?)

If we're doing multiple LCD options, I'd either add wireless ability or if that's too compromising for size and power, have a Canon wireless LCD (any size), not a third party option, I guess connected via BT or wifi but no idea if that's ideal or there's something better.

All good. But the real joy of a camera is the tiny ergonomics.

There is no camera you can truly operate by feel

The big one would be a nice focus interface that can work with an eye in the finder

2025, and Canon has released varjous new cameras and updates since questions about the C500 miii began to be posted (OP has a thread from 2023). Is Canon ever going to release a c500 miii with an 8K sensor? I might stop waiting and buy an R5C, but I would prefer the form factor of a C500. Or I might buy a Pyxix 12k, but I prefer the Canon look.

Canon may have finally given up on that sector, they are too difficult to sell.

But, who knows, tough to predict.
