Canon 7D & XHA1s in Vegas

Hi Guys,

I have been shooting with a Canon XHA1s and a brevis adapter, which is perfect for my wedding gigs when editing in vegas.

However, I just ordered my Canon 7D and I plan to shoot the bride/groom preparation and the photoshoot with the 7D, whilst doing the ceremony and reception with my XHA1s.

Question is how will Vegas go supporting the two formats in the timeline? Can it work with the XHA1s mpeg2 & The 7D which records mov files using AVC/H.264 compression?

Im very new to working with multiple formats so pardon the ignorance.

Any help would be great,

Cheers,

Sean.

The 7d files are best converted to something else - otherwise you will find it impossible to get full framerate playback. I personally convert all my 7d h.264 files to ProRes in Compressor on my Mac for use in both Final Cut and Vegas (running on Windows 7 on the Mac in BootCamp). You can also use MPEG Streamclip, I believe, to convert to something more amenable to Vegas. Some people use Cineform NeoScene to convert to the Cineform codec, but I personally moved on from it last year due to its proprietary nature and a less than enjoyable activation process for any of their products.

Hi all,

Got mpegstream clip, im editing in vegas as stated above.

What settings are best for converting in streamclip. Is it avi? mp4 etc?

Cheers,

Sean.
