Canon 7D + Artifacting

So I recently shot a music video with the Canon 7D.

The footage is fine, shot a little bit underexposed by our mistake.

The problem is that the artist really wants the exposure brought up, significantly.

And on the latest cut, there is a lot of artifacting introduced because of significantly raising the mids and highlights.

Just wondering what my options are here.

Anyway to raise the overall exposure of the footage without introducing artifacts?

Any help/suggestions appreciated.

Thanks.

What sort of artefacting are we talking about? Is it like it's enhancing the ISO noise? Or something different.

I could be that your realtime playback settings are set to auto and it's downscaling whilst trying to preview the colour correction. Do a File>Export>Export to Quicktime... and set it to h.264 or something similar. If it renders out with all the horrible artefacting then it must be something else...

It's happening only after the export.

Here is an example picture. Look at the shower door and notice the "artifacts".

These appear throughout the video on certain shots.

Like I said, on the timeline it looks fine, but when I export it as a Quicktime Movie then convert it to a H.264 setting, this happens.

Any help? Advice?
