I've been doing a lot of research and have decided on purchasing a Canon 40D. However, before I take the plunge, I would like to get some/any feedback and/or advice from anyone out there using the Canon 40D. I haven't been too lucky with the search option here since the Nikon D40 comes up also.

Any comments would be appreciated on the camera, CF cards, batt, lenses, acc's, etc...

Thanks
Chris

dvxuser shouldn't be your only source especially because its a dedicated filmmaking site. The advice is great here, but you could probably get a lot more responses on other dedicated photography sites with forums or google it, your question has been asked before, I'm sure.

This is actually my last stop (in my research). I have looked into the Canon 40D in many other forums/sites etc... I had actually forgotten about the still photo section of this site (don't be offended photogs), and since I am on this site so often, wanted to glean some fellow DVXusers 2 cents.

So yea, thanks for your help.

The 40D is hot. It's the best canon crop camera out in that price range. What specific questions do you have ? Without knowing what you are shooting it's going to be hard to give any specific advice

Well, to be honest, I'm about 99.9% from pulling the trigger. I posted this thread expecting to hear what some 40D owners liked/disliked about it. Cool tricks they've found or problems they've encountered etc...
Like I mentioned earlier, I have done a lot of research and have read it's a good camera.

Specifically, is that Extreme III card a good one to use or is there better? How's the battery life shooting max (full rez)? The 30D shot 3fps, the 40D does 6.5fps, has anyone used this and is that feature as good as advertised?

I'll be using it to shoot surfing (w/telephoto....400mm IS eventually....well...someday, I hope), shoot some DJ friends (in nightclubs) and some landscape/building photos to use as plates for green screen work (10-22mm). So, yes, I'll be running the gamut for sure. I don't doubt the camera, as everyone loved the 20D, the 30D and now the 40D. I guess I'm just overly cautious when buying anything over a grand.

I also realize that this isn't a 'still photography' based site/forum. I was simply looking to see/hear any feedback from the DVXers.

Thanks
