What is the difference between the two. I am going to be getting two new cameras for wedding work and I am looking at these. There is a differance in price but what is the big diffreance in the cameras. I just worked a wedding with a photog who used two 20d's and a Mark II. I am thinking of getting two 30d's. Please help.

Here you go. Halfway down the page it compares every changed spec.

I would recommend the 30d. It's only a couple hundred more and for the larger screen and other small bonuses, it's worth it. If your business allows you wait, I would also consider buying one 30d and waiting a bit to see what else materializes. The 30d was a pretty minor upgrade to the 20d, so it is likely it will be replaced at PMA in February 2007.

That being said, if you are sticking with Canon, compare the Rebel XTi with the 30d. This is where the hard choice is as you can almost get 2 XTi's for the price of a 30d.

XTi - 3fps, 10mp, smaller & lighter, sensor cleaner
30d - 5fps, 8mp, larger & heavier, better controls and ergonomics, spot meter

Well with the budget I am looking to put out, I could get two XTi's and a 30d.
What is the big diff in the 30d and the XTi?? I think I would rather have the 10mp for wedding photos. Besides I do have a 300D now and most of my the stuff will fit the XTi.

i was doing the same comparasion. Walked into B&h to compare. Th major difference between the xti and 30 is that the 30d is a metal body, xti is plastic. If your a big tall guy with big hands i wouldnt recomment the xti. To small for my hangs. Feel is a big thing to me. 30d feel like a pro body. XTi like a toy.

I am not so big on how it feels in my hands, I am more worried about the photos the camera will take. I was think of getting the battery grip on the XTi as well so it will be a little larger with that on it.

You still may want to go and handle them at a camera store side by side anyway.
Even with the bat. grip, the XTi is still like a toy, the grip adds some desperately needed bulk, but that doesn't change the fact that it's build quality and ergos are less than desirable.

And because of this, it may still be best that you choose the 30D over the XTi.
Even though there's a slight resolution increase in the XTi, it also increases noise at high ISO.
Aside from reading some of the great reviews at DPreview, Imaging Resource, and Camera Labs, I'd strongly recommend handling the cameras side by side.
IMO, the XTi was rushed to market, cutting corners, and adding gimmicks along the way. While the 30D, even though not a very big leap from the 20D, is a very solid, well balanced, and proven piece of equipment.

well said Digigenic
I also added the battery grip to see if it helped. It felt like a toy with a grip. Since i dont buy new cameras every 6 months my camera has to feel like its mine. Gotta walk around with it everyday, etc. If your going for quality and the 30d is better than the decision is made. (from Digi's research) if it's a money thing then your decision is also made.

In my reasearch i couldnt find any big difference in quality. Thats why i had to go see them.

looked them up, they are the same except:
30d has bigger sensor,
xti doesnt have 3200 iso,
max shutter on 30d is 1/8000 xti is 1/4000,
30d = 5fps, xti = 3,

Thank you guys for your imput on this I guees I will be getting two 30d's. I will be making the purchase at the end of the month. If you have anything more to add about the 30d pls do so.

Well It turns out after talking to a buddy a work, and holding the camras, I am going 30D all the way.
