Canare L-2B2AT or Mogami W3031

The Mogami has an outside diameter (OD) of 2.8mm while the Canare has an OD of 3.2mm
You didn't mention exactly what connector(s) you want to use.
IMHO, either cable would be great, but the Mogami may be easier to fit into a small connector.

The connector is Neutrik 3.5 that fits cables up to 4mm so either one is perfect as far as OD, but the Canare is about 1/3 of the price of the Mogami,
You say they are just as good ? Thanks.

I have worked with both extensively and as quality audio cables they are equal - but the shielding and packing around the conductors on the Canare is A LOT more difficult to deal with. Now of course that doesn't really matter if you're only making a few cables. But try doing 100 for a studio setup - THE HORROR!

Actually "A LOT more difficult to deal with" is a GOOD thing!
Typically, cables that have difficult shield braiding actually hold up BETTER in real-world conditions.
But, as DPStewart says, they are "
A LOT more difficult to deal with".

Of course, if you are doing only a few cables, it isn't a show-stopper.
And if you aren't expecting heavy-duty use, then it probably won't make a significant difference.

Shure Richard, for long runs and heavy duty, I have the Starquad with 6 mm OD, but this as strong as possible for a 3.5 connector that goes from a minimixer to a camera
The mixer takes XLR phantom as input but 3.5 output to camera or recorder, So I'll build a 15 foot cable with Canare or Mogami and neutrik 3.5 connectors , that is as reliable as can be.
Thanks for sharing both of you telling me that The Canare which is lower price could also be better for the shielding despite that it requires a little extra work on building
But not big deal I have some experience building cables. Just the first time on a 3.5 mm plug

Doing your own 3.5mm mini plugs is like punishment for shoplifting.

Bring your tweezers and a magnifying glass!

Not really, if you consider that not many stores if any sell neutrik connectors 3.5 on a Canare cable .
If you have a link to one let me know, Also is good to decide on length.
No problem sodering or building as long as you have a proper technic

You guys! 3.5mm plugs are trivial compared to 12-pin miniature Lemo or Hirose connectors. Break out the microscope.

Mmmm...or how about wiring up patchbays - meaning soldering ALL the connections on the back of about 1,000 TT jacks. That's always "fun"...
That was the 1990's for me.

NEVER AGAIN!

For sure! 3.5mm plugs are easy. 1/4" and XLRs are child's play. The Hirose and Lemo connectors drove me to drink a few times.
That said, the braided shield Mogami W3031 is more flexible being a 'mic' cable, whilst the foil shield Canare L-2B2AT is designed for installs and harnesses.

FWIW, I use Canare L-2E5 Mini, for bag and cart interconnects. The Canare L-4E5C Mini-Star-Quad is another option, but slightly larger and unnecessary for line level IMO.

Whosses, Soldering in RAM chips beats those silly connectors. After 32 12 pin DIPs to get a whopping 16 K of memory cables feel like a holiday.
