Hi guys,

This summer I'll be going to Canada (Toronto area) and I'm planning my stay over there. I just wanted to know what do you guys recommend me to visit mainly in Toronto or near Toronto. Also, do you recommend any reputable photo or video equipment store over there.. (I'm buying a P&S camera and I'll buy it over there, you know the change from Euros to CAD is great.).

anyway, I'll be staying there from the 23rd of august to september 12 (any interesting events around those dates?).

Thank you guys, this will be my first 9+hours flight...from Bilbao-Munich-Toronto...and I really want to go. And they say that Canada rocks so there I go:thumbup:. This is for all the canadians over this board:beer:.

You can catch the first two days of TIFF (one of the big 3 with Cannes, Sundance). Also, the CNE (big carnival + casino) will be in town. Some 'cultural' stuff to ckeck out: AGO (gallery), ROM (museum), U of T campus, the TSO (symphony - $12 tix for under-25yo on Thursday nights). On the free side, you can walk around downtown, Yorkville (our 5th Avenue), Kensington Market (our Greenwich Village), St. Lawrence Market, the Distillery district and Harbourfront. If you have the time, you can take the ferry to Centre Island (carnival-type place), or Hanlan's Point (nude beach). If you like rides, check out Canada's Wonderland (about an hour north of Toronto). If you do some research, I'm sure you'll find tons of things you can do while you're here. It gets HUMID in the summer, but the end of August is when fall weather starts rolling in, so it might be wise to bring a sweater/jacket for night time.

As for the p+s cam, Vistek and Henry's are good, but IMO the electronics shops on Yonge St. (downtown Toronto) are your best bet. They'll probably be cheaper than Vistek, and you can also bargain with them for freebies/discounts/no tax if you have cash. BTW, there's 13% tax on most things you buy in Ontario. Cigarettes are ~ $8 for a small pack. Beer (domestic) is ~ $4 for a bottle at a bar, ~ $6-7 at a club, ~ $12-15 for a 6pk at the beer store. Oh yes, I forgot to say, that outside of bars and clubs, you can only buy beer, liquor, wine at: The Beer Store, LCBO or a few specialty wine shops around the city.

Hope this helps. :)

Also, if you're into live theatre, Toronto boasts a great selection of top rated plays, musicals, etc.

Niagara Falls isn't too far away either.

hi guys,

I have one more question before I leave to Canada (tomorrow).

Do you guys know of a good vinyl disc shop in the Toronto downtown? mainly dedicated to heavy metal music (for example discs from Triumph, Striker or Anvil).

And the last question. Do you guys know of an interesting place to visit that is related to filmmaking?

Thank you guys!

Now writing from Toronto Castlefield avenue.... someone must know some cool and interesting place to visit (related to filmmaking..).
