Can you turn a prime lens into a zoom lens?

OK, I vote for a second banning.

I removed my last comment as it was poking fun of myself. It looks like David W Jones may have some how taken offense of my good natured humor....so I removed it out of respect for this thread.

David, if you were in fact targeting me with your last comment, as extreme as that may be, I will respect it.

Not sure...I made a goofy comment about myself. He seemed to take offense. I could be totally misinterpreting it though. Either way...its all good.

Great. I just saw it right after I called myself a turdface. So I officially reinstate my previous comment. I'm a turdface. Wow. Not my best moment.

Sorry David. :)

Here's the bit you missed s**t-for-brains.

Wow. 800 views and nobody's figured it out yet? I'm surprised. Maybe I should reveal my secret method in a proper YouTube demo video ( I hear you can make good money on YouTube these days  ). But first I think I ought to post a few more examples here and see if one of you clever people can figure it out. It's good to be back... I almost thought I wouldn't after one of the moderators had me banned from DVX a few months ago...

To try and end this, my best guess is that you have a lens adapter on a camera (I.E. a RedRock on an HPX-170) and you are simply zooming the camera's fixed zoom lens further in on the spinning ground glass upon which your prime lens is being projected on. I remember back in the day when I used a HVX200 and RedRock... there was always a little wiggle room for how much I could set the HVX200's lens on the ground glass.

^ I'm still sticking with this. Using a zoom to magnify a prime. It's still a zoom.
