i'm new to AE and i'm just messing around with this video clip and practicing color correction and like what i've done. is there a way to save the color correction effect somehow so that i can apply it to any of my future clips that i may import into the same project?

if so can you save the effect so it can be used in other AE project files?

i'm using AE CS3

so you can only use animation presets that come with the program and manipulate them?

if i've applied specific hue/saturation settings to a clip, i can't save that as an effect and reuse it with future movie clips, etc? in other words, you can't create your own effect from scratch and then save it to be reused?

The opening line about animation presets is:

"Animation presets let you save and reuse specific configurations of layer properties and animations, including keyframes, effects, and expressions."

as in:

1. Apply an effect with settings you choose.
2. Save it as a preset with a name you want.
3. Apply that preset later on some other project.

This is how the authors were able to make some of their own and include them.

it never actually says how to do it though...

Yes it does. Once you go to the help menu and select "Animation presets..." Scroll to the bottom of the window. You'll see an information box labelled "Related information" Click on the link where it says. "Save an animation preset". Follow the instructions.
