Can you not import some videos?

Hey all.

I was playin around with Vegas tonight and i imported an .avi that was created from a canon digital photocamera. Only the sound was imported, not the video. Also, on some other videos that i have (not from the canon camera) the video is imported, but without the sound.

Whats with that? Do some videos not work in vegas? Is there some setting i need to change?

Thanks for your help.

You did the importing? On the same machine as Vegas? If not, I'd guess it was a case of the AVIs being created with a Codec you don't have.

Well, I can play all of these videos in either Windows media player, or quicktime and whatnot. So I probably have the codecs right?

Its just that they aren't working in sony vegas 5.

Chances are, the video is recorded at 15fps. I’ve had to convert to 30p in Commotion to bring those clips in.

I don't *think* there's a way to import it without converting it first, but here's where someone usually swoops in and says "it's right here, stupid."

LOL.

Well I don't have Commotion, and it seems kinda expensive. Is there a free solution to converting the fps in video?
Thanks so much for the info though.

I used STOIK Video Converter 2.1 (which has a freeware option) before I saw your post about AVI Frame Rate Changer. Thanks for the help. STOIK was simple to use but ill try out avi frame rate changer too.

Ok, we fixed the video, but what about sound.

When we tried to import my friend's divx video the video was imported but not the sound. How would I fix this?

Thanks for the help.

Vegas does not support it. You'd have to use a program which does and convert it into something Vegas does support.
