Can you correct out of focus footage?

Is there a way to take footage that is slightly out of focus and make it sharper/focused?

For example I have a CU (close-up) that appeared in focus in the LCD, but turned out to be slighly out of focus. I can't re-shoot the shot for various reasons. Do I have any post-production options?

Specs/details: 24fps footage. Close up shot of a female's face.

Thx!

Some agressive color correction might help distract the viewer's eyes from the out of focus image but you don't have a lot of option. Applying a sharpening filter to it won't work because the entire image ends up looking angular and weird.

A Straight answer to your question, ...... No.
I know it wasn't the answer you wanted to hear.

No problem Corona. Ya live and learn.....
I did find the Unsharp effect does help a bit, but no cure for in focus footage.

Thx again.

Try the following - it can take footage slightly out and toughen it up - check my posts (2) on this forum to see some examples - the adapter looks to be mounted a little out so the "back focus" is out a tiny bit:

I used NeatVideo (http://www.neatvideo.com/examples.html) and prior to that in the aftereffects stack I used the basic sharpen tool (+20) - the neatvideo plug kills the excessive artifacting caused by the sharpen algorithm. Neatvideo also acts as a sharpener itself.

ps just to balance the post : to see sharper, great footage from this adapter check this: http://waynekinney.iforumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=123&mforum=waynekinney

Good luck with it.
