Can we trust E-Bay buy??

I had just won eBay auction last Saturday for a mini DV I want to use as a deck. Here is there answer:

"Congratulations, you've won eBay auction #3843058423, 'Panasonic PV-GS50 MiniDV Video Camcorder - Ritz Camera', with the high bid(s) of $235.00."

But when I follow the link to pay, here is what I got:

description Price:

Panasonic - PG-S50S Palmcorder (Open-Box) $235.00

I had never bid for that camera Palmcorder.

I don't think I will trust this.

Do anybody had the same experience. Thanks!

Re: Can we trust E-Bay buy??

I just checked out the ad, and it states that it's a display model...ie- open box. As far as the differing model numbers, there is no PG-s50s, so I'd suspect it's a clerical error.

Re: Can we trust E-Bay buy??

Thanks for your answer J. Barnes and Barry. Here is what they answer me after I e-mail them for that concern.

Hello,
Thank you for your interest in Ritz Auctions.
We have forwarded your note to the appropriate party and will have a
response within 1-2 business days. We need to find out if you will
actually be getting the Camcorder or the Palmcorder.
Please let us know if you have any further questions. Thank you,
Keri

Also J.Barnes, Do you think I can have a problem with a display model (open box). many thanks for your feedback.

Re: Can we trust E-Bay buy??

Ritz is a reputable business and you'll notice in their statement at the bottom of the ebay listing that the product comes with a full 1 year warranty.

There might be a bit more wear and tear on it, but the one item in a camcorder that takes the most abuse is the tape transport and head system. Chances are that this thing was never once recorded on if it's a display model. There might be a ton of worn-off lables, but for the price youre getting it at, I'd say that's to be expected.

O.K. Thanks J.Barnes

O.K. Thanks J.Barnes

O.K. Thanks J.Barnes, I will wait for there answer and see what's happening. And as you say if the camcorder was never recorded, I don't care if there is some worn-off, what I need is the head system and
tape transport as a deck.

Re: Can we trust E-Bay buy??

Well, obviously don't take my word for the fact that it was never recorded. I'm just saying that people don't often run tape through the camcorders in any retail outfit. They usually just pick it up, poke the buttons, break the flip out monitors and scratch up the lenses.

Your camera might be in any sort of condition, but judging from the way Ritz does business (everything is kept out of reach where it must be asked for by the customer), it will probably prove to be in good shape considering.

Not to mention that you're covered by some form of warranty, which can't hurt.
