hi guys i imported a uncompressed AVI SD cptured film ( striaght from camera 50i) into AE and used Majic bullet to turn it to progressive scan ( 25P ) to see if it would look more film like, i didnt touch the lighting, colour correction of anything.. but just to see how it would look, it was 6 minutes of film and it took magic bullet 31 hours to render.... and i'm not kidding. i heard MB was slow but damn ! i just wanted to see if you guys think it looks any different, i think i can see some suttle changes so i will upload a couple seconds of film from each ( originl 50i & AE/MB converted 25P material ) thankfully i wont have to do this anymore ( in a few weeks ) as i'm getting my HV20 soon with will will shoot 25P :) but let me know what you think.

50i:

25p:

25p - mm test.avi

i didnt upload to my myspace or youtube account as i thought i thought the quality would be terrible to look at, this way you can look at and compare the two uncompressed files.

I think i have done this right, and i can notice some subtle changes just wnated some opinions form the experts :) thanks heaps

- regards Marty.

PS: why is MB so slow, was it becuase it had it work on a uncompressed avi file ?

Note: the 25p file was 700+ MB, and i had my premier pro 2.0 25p timeline set to uncompressed so i had to open it in windows movie maker ( sh!t i know ) and save as a normal PAL-DV AVI, wich baught it down to around 90MB, to keep things the same i opened the 50i avi into movie maker and saved it to as an PAL-DV avi.

I suspect that no one wants to help because the files are fairly large (85MB) and the download speed is slow as molasses.

milksac, deinterlacing will give you progressive frames, but that's just one aspect of a film look. Lighting, production value, depth of field, composition, gamma response, color correction, etc. all come into play. So, don't expect to see much of a difference just by deinterlacing.

Joshua-
Your post should be directed to africanmarty. I agree that there's much more to film look than progressive frames. I would add frame rate to your list.
