Can two people work on a project?

Okay, so I made my sound guy get Vegas just to simplify things but I've now run into another puzzle. If I'm going through my project and doing the final edit and want to turn over all my scenes that I've "locked" and my sound editor starts doing his work on the dialogue, what is the best process for getting his work back into the project on my end?

Here's what we're planning on doing:

1) I take the scenes I've "locked" for final edit and give him all the media files and room tone files on an external HD
2) he does his work on the dialogue and gives the HD back to me

Question is, how do I merge his changes into the project on my end? We want to be able to allow me to continue working on the final edit and turn over scenes as they are completed for him to do his sound work so he doesn't have to wait for me to finish the whole thing.

Is this even possible? God I hope so.

Put a marker in your project so you have a point of reference.
If your sound guy is doing a complete sound edit, just have the rendered file start at the marker and drop it in at the right spot.

If his edit doesn't involve track-based adjustments (no likely), then you could open his project, copy the audio events, then paste them into your project.

Or you could drop his whole project into your project as a nested veg file.

Vegas 6 allows another project to be "nested" on the timeline. You can save your master project into sub-edit files, give them to team members, and place them on a new edit timeline. As they change them, the changes will be reflected on your timeline. (Not sure if you have to reload/refresh to see the updates or whether they are dynamic.)

Simply drag-and-drop a .veg file onto a timeline to nest the project.
