Can someone please explain the difference between these two Sennheiser G2?

I am learning about wireless, and I have some newbie questions that I can't seem to find answered on the forum.

1.) I know the G3 is out now and is better than the G2, but for someone on a budget, the G2 looks appetizing, especially because of it's lower price now, but what about this issue with the FCC and frequencies being canceled? Is this true? I live in Seattle, WA, and now I'm worried that if I go for an older, yet new G2, it will get canceled?

2.) What is the difference between these two G2s? It's a 200 dollar difference.

I see one has some sort of wireless XLR plug, but I don't know if this is a necessity or not?

3.) How does one find out which Mhz frequency they need? I see there are A series, B series and so forth.

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer these questions.

The $650 set includes the XLR plug that turns a normal wired mic into a wireless mic. If I recall, only the 500 series plug will provide phantom to said mic. The G2 stuff solid in the US is perfectly fine FCC-wise, you don't have to worry about that.

C series in the G2's are the ones to stay away from. I've got a set, but I've had it for a while and its still doing fine. But I also have a B series as a backup just in case. Any big jobs I usually rent lectros.
