So, I recently got the HMC-150 which can shoot in both 24 and 30 fps. I'm about to start a film project, and I am trying to decide which format to use.

can people give good links to discussions of this on the internet? I realize it has been discussed ad nasaeum many times, so I'm not asking for it to be rehashed here. I'm asking for people to put links to conversations they've seen on the topic that would be useful

thanks!

what exactly is it that you want to knwo in the links? It's all preference what you find a better aesthetic. Films are generally shot in 24fps, if you want a cinematic/film look then shoot at that. Video and shows are often 30fps if you want that look then go with fps. Like the guy said it's not rocket science

You can check here, there's a lot of answers.
Depending on your NLE & DVD authoring software, 30p is the simpliest way, no pulldown and all.
I personally always shoot in 24p since i've bought my HV40, as 99% of the DVD players available on the market can play DVD with 23.976fps by applying pulldown directly. And if you do both HD and SD version, you'll get your 1080p/24 video.

The biggest differences I care about are:
1. in-camera features for one or the other rate.
2. editing tool and it's features for each rate.
3. mixing with "other" footage and rates
4. what you plan to do with it (DVD, TV broadcast, PC, Facebook/internet, film) ...
5. what formats you may want to (easily) convert it to
