Hi, i was just working on an AfterFX Projekt, when my PC shut down, because we had an electrical outage in our house. I was maybe just saving the Project at that moment, but i am not too sure about that.

End of Story: i cannot open my AfterFX Project anymore. The Original Projekt was called "VFX_Scifest" and now theres only a "AEtemp-B7A20-VFX_SciFest".

Any possibility of recovering it? If not one/two days of work are lost...

Ugh, that sucks.
The file is probably gone.

The big lesson is to adopt a standard production practice of using "save as" many times through out your work sessions to keep mutilple iterations of your projects saved as you progress. There's really no reason for you to loose 2 days, or even two hours of work.

Save as at least once every 30-60 minutes so you have folder with files like:
VFX_Scifest_001
VFX_Scifest_002
VFX_Scifest_003
VFX_Scifest_004

This will spare you from loosing so much work.
As an added benefit, when the director comes back to you after requesting two weeks of revisions and says .. "Actually, you were right a couple of weeks ago. It looked a lot better back then. Just bring it back to what you showed me on Tuesday afternoon two weeks ago and we'll approve that to go to edit." .... you'll be able to open up that project and render rather than rebuild from scratch.

Good luck

Like Nick says, the file is probably gone. If the power failed while you were writing to the disk, the file is corrupted, incomplete, and unrecoverable.

Two days of lost work sucks, but you may be able to reconstruct the temp file. Do a google for it, I'm sure you will find something.

Nick's advice about multiple savings is a godsend and has saved my butt more times than I can count.

Try some file recovery utility like FreeUndelete or Active Undelete. Some of them are freeware. Better programs will cost you about $30. In the meantime try not to write new files to your disk since it may corrupt your project permanently.

There's still a chance your project may be recovered, but more chances are it's gone. Depends on how much changes were done in the filesystem on your machine. Recover your file to other drive (you can use any other target drive, even digital camera if you have enough space available in the memory) to decrease the risk of corrupting your file during recovery.
