Can not get sound on new PC!!!!!

I bought a new PC, and the sound worked fine through my speakers when I started it up. The sound is on the motherboard, so i don't have an actual sound card so the guy who sold me the PC told me. But I should have sound he tells me.

I shut down my PC before I went to work, no issues, and next time I started it up, no sound.

I just cant figure it out. I've checked all the sound levels, I played a song on itunes and the volume mixer bar moves up and down recognizing there is sound.

But there is nothing coming through my headfones or speakers and I've tried the back and front ports to no avail. I've gone to control panel and checked all the sound drivers and everything seems fine.

Im stumped.

Oh and I've also uninstalled the Realtek HD audio manager and reinstalled it with the CD.....still no luck....

No Sound Card ? In a new PC ? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ....

You've gone in a turned up the Audio from SOUNDS ? (via Control Panel - Hardware Sound)

Also check Manage Audio Devices ?

Yeh checked everything.

Why would the sound work fine then suddenly cease?

Have you considered that you might be going deaf?

Haha, just kidding. Maybe there's been some kind of hardware fault which has stopped the sound output working. Can you borrow a soundcard from another computer and see if that works for you?

Anything like that might just a minor glitch between the hardware and the motherboard...

I'm assuming audio card isn't disabled.

I would try to go back to restore point... I fixed my friend's computer audio problem like that.

or restart you computer, repeatdly press 8, this will take you to Windows Advanced Option Menu. Choose Last Known Good Configuration. This wlll take the computer to when the computer was working properly.

If none of the above work, Go into Bios Set-up (I press F2 for mine CPU, sometime press 2 or press DEL depend on Computer brand), then choose Load Default Setup then Save & Exit. This will load default Bios Setup. Your computer setup goes back to normal.

the built-in sound does go bad (happened to me) then you really need to get a sound card.

Bad news

Let me know!

Huh? Say what? Lol.

Yeh good idea. I have just been given a sound card by a mate (what are freinds for eh?) and will try it tonight. Thanks. Fingers crossed.

Hey man thanks alot for the advice and help. I will try pluggin in this sound card a freind gave me see if anything happens. But would love to know anyway why I cant get sound at the moment. I'm funny like that, I just HAVE to know what happened.

THanks alot again! Will let you know what happens.

AGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHH!!!!!!! Even with a sound card in NOTHING happens. Ive updated all the drivers, done a system restore...NOTHING.

I'm about ready to smash this computer to pieces. It doesn't even register the speakers or headphones......... This is driving me mad. I will take it to a PC repair shop. F*ck it, I have spent days trying to figure this out.
