Joy to the world,

I'm trying to get my feet wet on this 35mm thingy,....I'm new to this stuff so bear with me.

looking at different post about DIY 35mm, it looks like the major parts are the lens and focus screen, then everything else....

My question is can i buy an old slr cam and use the lens and ripped the focus screen to built my own 35mm static adapter? or is it a different type of focus screen used on the slr cam?

i found a few good tutorials, now I'm just trying to get the parts together.

Newman, there's a great deal of knowledge here (maybe the best place on the planet for info...) but there's over 2 years of posts on the subject (many in the DIY section) with thousands and thousands of lines of text on the subject. Focussing screens often have split/prisms and other focussing aids molded in making them generally unsuitable for adapter use. There are a few out there that are blank, and these are sometimes used for DIY projects...but your chances of finding one in a used SLR are pretty low.

Cheers :-)
