Can I upgrade to Final Cut Studio 2?

I looked through the system requirements and recommendations for installing Final Cut Studio 2, but I'm still a bit confused.

The only application I really care about right now is FCP 6 and I need to know if it will run on my 15" Powerbook G4. Here is some info:

1.5 GHz PowerPC 64
1GB RAM

I'm not sure if anything else comes into play here. I just had a short film shot on HD using the HVX and I can't edit until I upgrade from FCP 4.5

Do I need a new computer too?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The full break down is available at the Apple site.

Looking at the bare minimum specs, I think your biggest concerns would be the Graphics Card (does a G4 laptop have an AGP Quartz Extreme card?), OS (are you on 10.4.9?), and Optical Drive (does your G4 laptop have a DVD-ROM at least, DVD-RW not necessary for installation?)

But, that said, those are just for the minimum specs. I wouldn't want to cut much beyond a 30 second commercial with just the minimum specs. I'd very much look into an upgrade. Even the new MacBook (not the Pro) would be a big upgrade as it uses the nice new Core 2 Duo chips and allows for 2GB of ram. And if you can leap to the MacBook Pro, you can go right up to 4GB of ram, even with the lowest model.

cheers.

Thanks for the response.

I already have a DVD drive and I was planning to upgrade my operating system to 10.4.9 and memory up to 2GB of RAM (would that still be enough for HD?).

I'm not sure about the graphics card though. I think my Powerbook has an AGP card but I don't know if it's sufficient for the upgrade. Is there any way I could find that out?
