I am trying to upload audio to a ftp site for a transcriber to access files for transciption.

However, I believe they are on a pc system and cannot open quicktimes.

Can someone please guide me on how to save audio as either an mp3 or mp4 file in fcp? I believe the file needs to have that .mp3 tag at the end of it's name.

best,

thanks for your reply. do i need to take the quicktime from fcp and import it into itunes and then export an mp3? I'm sort of illiterate with this stuff. any help would be appreciated.

Export as an AIFF from FCP. Then you have to set iTunes to import as MP3 in it's preferences. Then import the sound file into iTunes.

You can't do MP3 directly from Apple software do to legal agreements Apple has with publishers who have music in the iTunes store. So Apple has to do this work around.

There is the free MMPEG X that does MP3 fast and easy. Also, Amadeus II is very affordable, very powerful, and exports MP3s.
