Great camera for a tiny project I'm doing but I would like to get better sound but to my dismay there is no shoe on the camera. How can I hook up a shotgun mic to this? Can I?

Yes, your camera has a microphone input according to the user manual. Did you read it? Do you see the connector on the camera?
Yes, you can connect a shotgun microphone. Exactly how you can do that depends on which microphone you are asking about.

I wanted the Rode VideoMic but it has/uses a shoe mount and I dont see a way to connect it to this particular camera

Then use a device that attaches to the bottom of the camera.
Like the one shown below (or many similar gadgets)

NOTE HOWEVER, that mounting a microphone ON the camera is just about the WORST POSSIBLE place for it.
It is almost ALWAYS too far away to pick up good audio signal.
In fact, I'm not convinced that a fancy "video mic" will be enough of an improvement over the internal mic to warrant the extra cost.
IMHO, if you aren't going to get the microphone AWAY from the camera to a more appropriate place, then don't bother.
