Can I do this?

Hello everyone.

Being new to Vegas, I don't know if I can do this, or if Vegas and DVD architect can do this, so I thought I'd ask the experienced users.

A business has asked me to re-edit their promotional DVD. It already has graphics and music in it. I would just be trying to re-edit some graphics, trying to add different text to them, and some of the video.

Can I add new font to graphics that are already interactive on the DVD? Does that interaction ("play dvd" button on the graphic) transfer over when I copy it?

I'm not sure what I'm getting into with this...would rather shoot it myself.

Thanks for the help.

No, they are .vob files, you would need to extract them and edit them from a raw format.

You'd have to re-author the DVD. You can pull all the video off it, but do keep in mind that when you re-render for your own output, you'll be rendering to MPEG-2 from MPEG-2 and you'll lose quality.

What exactly is re-authoring? Can I re-author in DVD architect?

I've already captured their DVD into Vegas and it's playing fairly smoothly. I've told them that I'll lose some quality having to use their video. Any way I can assure the best quality possible? In rendering?

How will I create that "play DVD" button on my edited DVD?

Thanks.

You'll have to do a new menu in DVD Architect. You can probably use whatever menu media they were using; it should be on the disc as a .vob file. But you'll have create the functional buttons in DVDA.

thanks David, I'll give it a try & let you know how it goes...

is the boot camp happening in Orlando? I'm really needing it...
