Can fcpx do this?

I think if you have the clip selected in the storyline, and click share, it will be sharing ONLY the clip selected. You can set multiple things sharing (exporting) at the same time. So yes.

In the timeline use the "I" key for in-point and the "O" key for the out-point. When the section you want to export is selected, use the share menu and render out the segments.

Thanks for the responses. I may not be understanding you or I am doing this wrong. I understand the I and O will allow me to render out that particular segment. What I want to know is if I can preselect those segments and have them render at one time. For instance. Say I cut a clip into 30 segments. Is there away to share and have the clips make the individual files. In other words, so I do not have to share file 1, then share file 2, and so one. Just share once and get 30 files at the end.

No. 1 Share command must be issued per timeline/project/clip you want rendered.

So if in the end you want 30 different clips, that means 30 share jobs. Make a project, do your thing, start the share, move to the next.

If there are no actual edits made to your original footage/clips, and you are wanting to "share" those, you can use OSX automator or Compressor to do batch "sharing" (rendering) of footage/clips.
