Can DSLR lenses be used with Letus/other?

I am still trying to figure out the whole Letus adapter thing, looking very interesting. One thing I do not yet understand though is whether DSLR lenses could be used on a Letus system? I know most DSLR camers, like my Canon 10D and Canon 40D, that uses DSLR lenses, use a conversion factor when focusing the image on the sensors, etc. So I do not understand if I could use my existing DSLR Canon EOS lenses for a Letus system when I get one. Can anybody help sort this out?

Of course it might all be moot-- both my lenses are compound lenses, like 28-300mm DSLR lenses, so not as fast as say a plain old vanilla 50mm prime lens from a film camera. So perhaps (I am asking, don't know this) I should just buy a 50mm, 85mm, and 150mm prime lens (for film cameras, full 35mm, no conversion factor issues)?
