Can bad skin/large pores be corrected in post production?

Obviously makeup can alleviate SOME of this but, especially with large pores, is it possible to remove them via post production from an actor's face? If a photo can be airbrushed to perfection, why can't moving footage be as well, since the footage is simply a collection of photos anyway? Would it look silly or is there any validity to this idea?

You can always hide flaws by duplicating the layer. blurring it a bit if needed, off-setting it's position enough to hide whatever and then tracking or keyframing a mask for it. I started doing this about 15 years ago to hide a missing pixel from a betacam and it works fine for skin imperfections, ect.
