I was looking at either Azden or Audio technica... Also, I wanted to buy a few transmitters/mics for one receiver. How do I match them with the one receiver. (by band range?)
Thanks

azden, buy an audio technica - ANY audio technica will beat an azden.

you cannot send multiple signals to one receiver. its 1 transmitter = 1 receiver.

yeah, fisher price might be a little too steep for me... I'd try taking my little cousin's, but he'd probably kick my as*.

There are a few decent Lav's in your price range. You're just not going to find a decent wireless lav kit in that range.

If you shop around a fair bit, you may be able to find a used Sony ECM-55 with a wired power supply for around $200.

True and false. You can not send multiple transmitters to one receiver but you can do it the other way around. i.e. you can send one transmitter to multiple receivers.

I've been using the Azden WLX-Pro system for weddings and for that purpose, it works pretty good. Less than $150.

what about omni vs. cardoid? I will be primarily using for dialog in documentary, but may be attaching at times to instruments.

second-hand ecm-55 or if your lucky an ecm-77b.
i still have my first ever 55, and it is still great.
i've also got a 15 year old sennheiser transmitter and receiver.
and a 20 year old Micron diversity radio mic kit. and they work really well

ozduc, thanks.. yes thats true of course. i should have written 1 transmitter < receivers or something like that.

If you are really looking for wireless (your post kind of mixed topics - lav and wireless are not necessarily the same thing) I would recommend you look for something used. For example, you might be able to pick up a used Sennheiser G1 (it's not really called G1, it's just the model before the G2) with a Sennheiser ME2 or ME4 lav for around $300 or so (ahem...I actually have one that I would probably let go for around that much). All of the other wireless kits listed above are considered by most to be too low quality to be useful.
