i've got a producer who wants to shoot a documentary on the dvx100b but not use any artifical lights.
there will be a dozen talking head interviews, some in small cramped office spaces-overhead flos/wood paneled walls-and the producer wants this to be the doc's "look".
the subject matter lends itself to this "look" . it is an extremely sensitive subject which people often speak about in hushed tones. the producer feels this no light set-up will create intimacy between the camera and subjects.
we will be working as a two, or sometimes, three person crew-camera/producer or camera/sound/producer.
i'm hoping to shoot most of the talking heads on the dvx100b at 1/24th to suck in as much ambient light as possible.
obviously, i'm concerned with the images produced by such a no light approach. i imagine i can kick the gain up to +3 but what of the resulting noise?
can anyone name a no-light doc with plenty of interiors shot w/dvx100? i want to see what other folks have shot to use as a reference. in these types of circimstances, there is a very thin line between a "looK" and amateurism.
thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts.
be well
