I am a little lost when it comes to color grading/correcting in After Effects. I can change all the levels, curves, hues etc. However I can never seem to get the quality other users can. :S

Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction
or
Would anyone please be able to do it up in after effects and then post the after effects file so I can transfer all the settings to my project?

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Here is a frame from the film that I'm looking to colour correct

[ The film is about a Bogan (Red neck/Hillbilly) and I am visualizing a kind of browny colour finish, typical of a bogan. Or a more hollywood style finish. ]

I'm not sure what style you're exactly looking for.
Something like this? (1 min work, just practice)

That screen grab looks very interlaced, you might want to convert it to progressive and clean it up a bit before you CC.

That's an awesome look :) How did you achieve this? It turns out our editing suite at school has Magic Bullet too! (Our teacher just doesn't know how to use any of the editing effects... she is brand new to AE too)

I did a similar cc but left in some blues in the shirt. It's just a matter of making it more rich looking, I always start with black levels.
In FCP
Color Corrector Three way:

BLACKS
level -65
angle -70.66
magnitude 2.59

MIDS
level 100
angle -45.01
magnitude 24.8

HIGHS
level 232
angle 145.27
magnitude 2.1

Good luck,
Brian

I'll post the file when I get back on my PC, I think it was just 3 steps of basic CC'ing.

Ditch MB, it's fun to see what looks it can achieve, but you can do them all by hand and you'll render them out waaaay faster.
