CAMTREE HUNT Baseplate Shoulder Support experiences? (Tilta knockoff)

Anyone have experience with the CAMTREE HUNT knockoff of the Tilta BS-T03 and what the quality is like?

Here's a link to the Camtree version: http://www.proaimshop.com/pas/CAMTR...aseplate-Shoulder-pad-Support-CH-RS-DSLR.html
Tilta version: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/992639-REG/ikan_bs_t03_15mm_vct_u14_quick_release.html

The Camtree is a copy of the older Tilta design, without the quick adjustment on the shoulder pad.

I'm curious if the Tilta really is worth the extra money, or if the Camtree version is fine.

I have this one http://www.proaimshop.com/pas/CAMTREE-HUNT-CH-FS700-RIG1-FS700-Cage-Rig-for-Sony-NEX-FS700.html

I'm really stoked with it. I wouldn't pay the extra money for the Tilta one

Thanks guys.

In regards to the machining and precision, was there any awkward quirks or surprises on any of your items? I've read a lot of different opinions on Camtree Hunt, especially in regards to some of their precision and machining quality.

Also if anyone else have experience with the specific item I looking for I would highly appreciate it if you shared your thoughts.

i bought a Proaim Mattebox some years ago - which had some quirks and quality downsides. The Camtree stuff seem to be their high quality products. Until today i had just one "issue", which was the anodizing on the top handle made my hand a little blackish - i was filming a Skateboard line though, and we needed 160 tries to get the shot - super sweaty hands and therefore it got rubbed off a bit - but nothing to bother about IMO. The handle still looks as new, no aluminium shining through or whatnot.

Thanks! The finish rubbing off is a minor issue. I guess they have to save in somewhere to get the price down.

Does the rod clamps secure the rods properly? I also read something about this, that even when tightened properly the rods were not very secure in the clamps.

My guess is that the CAMTREE branded shoulder mount is overstock from Tilta. Since Tilta now has the newer model that allows for the adustable shoulder pad, they sold their overstock to Camtree and it was re-branded. That being said, I have 2 of the Tilta versions of the image above. I use my AF-100 on it. The only issue I have is that I can't seem to find an allen wrench that fits the small bolts on the side. They have started to come loose and I have found one in my camera case before. I got it back in but could not tighten it as much as I wanted. If I can find an allen that works with them, I will give it some thread-lock and tighten it. I did change out the camera plate too since the small one that comes with it did not fit the other Manfrotto QR plate I have. The Manfrotto 357 plate works well with this QR receiver.

My recollection is that all Tilta bolts are metric in size. If you have a complete set of hex keys in both metric and imperial then you will find it.

If you can afford Tilta, get Tilta, it will be better build, more accurate to the photo, and better service, and I think it justify the price difference.

I don't have direct experience with the shoulder mount model you posted, but I recently ordered from Proaim a top and baseplate for my Sony F3, which is a direct copy of the Berkey System.

Proaim:

Berkey System:

http://store.berkeysystem.com/sony-f3-top-mount-accessory-plate-w-extension-plate/

The item takes 2 weeks from ordering date to arrive in my hand in UK, Proaim declare the item with lower value to save me import tax.
The item was wrapped in plastic, and there was a 1/4 screw missing.

The top plate is quiet heavy, and it felt cheap, finishing get rub off very easily, but its only a piece of metal so can't complain.

The baseplate is actually much bigger than their photos, and much bigger and heavier than the Berkey System, so expect inaccuracy between the receiving product and the photo on their website. It also feel cheap and roughly build.

I bought the package solely for the top plate as they are quite expensive in UK, but I wouldn't consider getting anything from Proaim again.

This is the kind of thing that worries me.

I've found that I can get the older Tilta version (same as the Camtree Hunt one) for less then $300 on eBay, so the price difference is not as big. Think I'm going to pay the little extra for the Tilta branded one. There might not be anything wrong with the Camtree Hunt version, but I know I will feel safer going for the Tilta as they have a pretty good reputation by now.

Thanks everybody!
